For over 15 years I have reported from inside prisons, within protests, and across public lands. I have spent my days buried in documents, on the front lines of natural disasters, both behind and in front of cameras, or with fingers on keys. No matter where my work takes me or the tools I use to do it, my focus has always been on people, problems, and innovative solutions that drive progress. I am dedicated to telling stories that start difficult conversations, uncover injustice or exploitation, and expose the truth.
I currently serve as the Guardian’s extreme weather correspondent — a position created for me and the first-ever of its kind at the paper — tasked with helping international audiences make sense of the climate crisis as it unfolds. Reporting from across the American West, I find narratives that connect readers to the urgency, need for accountability, and the opportunities for positive impact, posed by our warming world.
